Junior Phase

About the Junior Phase

The centre of our curriculum in the JP phase is to teach our pupils the tools they need to become successful, contributing members of a modern, 21st Century world.

"Our world has changed and research shows that children need more than the traditional 3 Rs (reading, writing and arithmetic) to prepare for future 21st Century careers. Globalisation means that children need to prepare academically for an increasingly competitive global landscape and, at the same time, learn to collaborate with others from all over the world."

Early Childhood Devlopment Curriculum Guidelines - ISASA Version 2

The Core learning areas are social and emotional development, cognitive and perceptual development, and physical development. These are critical pillars upon which our teaching and learning are based.

The CAPS document is used as a guideline and the curriculum is supplemented by methodologies and strategies that enhance and grow our pupil's learning. Reading and Spelling is based on the Time2Read methodology and the Singapore Maths system is followed in Mathematics.

Another vital element in our JP Phase is the development of EQ (Emotional Intelligence).

"We now know that emotional intelligence - what we call EQ - is a greater predictor of life success than IQ"

The Kindess Curriculum
Healthy Minds Innovations, Inc

Various programmes are used to teach our pupils about social and emotional behavior and strategies are taught to enhance empathy, sharing, tolerance, grit and resilience.

Our aim is to create an environment where our pupils are happy, secure and loved but also stretched and challenged. To produce a child who is adventurous, kind, brave and confident is our ultimate goal.
